Highland Fires

3/04/2013

PDG Helicopters was called on to help fight the recent spate of moorland fires at Gairloch, Kishorn and Fort William. Our aircraft were equipped with Bambi Bucket fire fighting systems at short notice and despatched to the area. The technique used involves the aircraft dipping and filling the underslung Bambi Bucket into a nearby loch or river, the helicopter then flies to the scene of the fire where the pilot will aim and release the 700 litres of water at the heart of the fire. This method of tackling moorland fires is extremely effective and PDG Helicopters are the UK's only helicopter fire fighting specialists.
